Solar TAX Credit

The federal residential solar energy credit is a tax credit that can be claimed on federal income taxes for a percentage of the cost of a solar PV system paid for by the taxpayer. (Other types of renewable energy are also eligible for similar credits but are beyond the scope of this guidance.)

The installation of the system must be complete during the tax year.

Solar PV systems installed in 2020 and 2021 are eligible for a 26% tax credit. In August 2022, Congress passed an extension of the ITC, raising it to 30% for the installation of which was between 2022-2032. (Systems installed on or before December 31, 2019 were also eligible for a 30% tax credit.) It will decrease to 26% for systems installed in 2033 and to 22% for systems installed in 2034. The tax credit expires starting in 2035 unless Congress renews it.

There is no maximum amount that can be claimed.

Solar TAX Exempt

Florida provides a 100% property tax exemption for residential renewable energy property and an 80% property tax abatement for non-residential renewable energy property.

Eligible renewable energy property includes solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, solar PV plus storage systems, wind energy systems, solar water heaters, and geothermal heat pumps installed on or after January 1, 2013. For the purpose of assessing property taxes for a home, an increase in the just value of the property attributable to the installation of this equipment should be ignored.

Energy Audit

There are three parts to an energy audit: evaluation, testing, and efficiency recommendations. Once the audit is complete, the auditor will provide you with a report outlining energy consumption, a final energy grading, and home improvement suggestions to cut energy costs on energy bills.

From a general point of view, an energy audit provides enormous benefits in different areas:

  • It helps reduce energy costs in your facility.

  • With a reduction in production costs, the competitiveness of your company will be improved.

  • It helps reduce the dependence on foreign energy sources.

  • It helps reduce environmental damage and pollution.

  • It can increase the security of your energy supply.

  • It can reduce the consumption of natural resources.

  • It can reduce damage to the environment associated with the exploitation of resources.

  • It helps reduce the impact of greenhouse gas emissions.

24/7 Monitoring System

The Inverters included in your solar system installation include a remote chip that sends continuous status updates and performance metrics to our technicians. If any issues are detected within the system, our technicians are notified immediately and will act quickly to resolve problems.

Homeowners will also receive access to a mobile app where they can monitor solar system performance, energy production, consumption, and more.

Net Meter and Interconnection with Grid

Net Meters are used to track the net amount (consumed – contributed) of power your home consumes or contributes to the power grid. When your solar energy system produces more power than you consume it sends the excess electricity to your home battery back-up or to the utility company to earn credits through Net Metering. During low production time periods your home may use power from the utility company which is offset with the energy credits you’ve earned. The meter keeps track of this exchange of power.
